The successful applicant will be able to join the Octopus Investments Australia team on their mission to accelerate Australia''s transition to a future powered by renewable energy.We are looking for an Investment Associate, reporting to a senior member of the investment team at Octopus Australia. This role will work across renewable investment and development opportunities to build and shape our future portfolio.As a member of the investment team, the successful candidate will help deliver on our M&A and deployment ambitions across all renewable technologies. The candidate will play an active role in transactions across different technologies and jurisdictions in Australia, broadening their skills and capabilities.You should be a forward-thinking, inquisitive individual comfortable working in detail and pivoting to a portfolio view. You will need to be an engaged team member, capable of sharing your experiences and capabilities with internal and external stakeholders. In Australia, Octopus manages over $1 billion of assets for local and international investors.Octopus AustraliaEstablished in 2018, Octopus Australia is a dynamic team of over 55 highly skilled professionals across various disciplines, focused on realizing and operating a renewable energy and storage portfolio.With a multi-GW portfolio of solar, wind, and utility-scale battery storage assets, we aim to create a long-term business delivering a reliable energy product for Australias energy future.Job DescriptionThe successful candidate should demonstrate the following:Renewable Energy Industry: Understanding and interest in the Australian energy sector.Deal Process: Knowledge of M&A deal processes, capable of managing multiple work streams with stakeholders and advisors.Team Work: Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.Financial Modelling: Experience in financial modelling, assessing risks, and updating/building models.Investment Committee/Board Reporting: Ability to present ideas clearly and support the preparation of investment papers for senior management.QualificationsRequired skills and experience include:Relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate finance (Big 4 experience preferred).Financial qualifications (e.g., CFA, CA, or MBA) are desirable but not essential.Eligibility to work in Australia (no visa sponsorship provided).Core finance skills: commercial mindset, strong communication, project management, financial modelling, and risk analysis.Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.A proactive, resilient, and team-oriented attitude.Additional qualities include:Self-motivation and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.Effective communication and feedback skills.Problem-solving and opportunity development capabilities.What We OfferCompetitive salary, bonus, and medical insurance.Additional annual leave.Opportunities for learning and career growth.Our culture emphasizes empowerment, diversity, and inclusivity.
