Basic Function Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant prepares financial statements, maintains accounting and fixed asset systems, records manual accounts receivable, prepares audit schedules, and performs other general finance duties. Responsibilities Financial Statement Preparation Follow the Financial Statement Closing Checklist: Ensure all billing, payroll, cash management, and accounts payable functions are completed and properly posted for the month. Prepare working papers and record monthly journal entries in the Financial Management software system. Record recurring journal entries. Run a preliminary trial balance and review for accuracy. Record adjusting journal entries as necessary. Generate preliminary financial statements and review for accuracy, updating cash flow statements and schedules. Run final trial balance, journal entry reports, and detailed general ledger. Submit all working papers and financial reports to the CFO. Generate financial reports for the President/CEO and program directors after CFO review. Accounts Receivable Receive invoices from programs and input into the accounting system. Prepare/update Excel spreadsheets for billings and input journal entries. Fixed Assets Maintain fixed assets records in the software system. Record fixed assets following capital expenditure policies. Prepare and record monthly depreciation journal entries. Maintain electronic copies of fixed asset transactions. Perform quarterly reconciliation of capital expenditures and depreciation with the general ledger. Finance Prepare schedules for annual financial and 401(k) audits. Maintain employee census and enrollment data for the 401(k) plan. Maintain general ledger accounts and issue chart of accounts revisions. Reconcile bank accounts and petty cash monthly. Prepare schedules for the annual Form 990 filing. Assist in preparing the annual operating and capital budgets. Serve as backup for the Finance Assistant. Prepare monthly Medical Mutual invoices. Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO. Qualifications Bachelors degree in accounting with at least 2 years of experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, accounting systems, and basic Adobe Acrobat skills. Reliable transportation and a valid Ohio drivers license with no more than two moving violations.
