In this role, you will integrate, format, and present relevant analyses and data visualizations to communicate results, findings, and recommendations to various business users. Your new role You will be a member of a chapter, building the data and analytics platform. The role involves working alongside different functions to develop the data platform by understanding core system data structures, data processing architecture, and designing data pipelines. You will also work closely with the data science team and technology function to engineer features required to support machine learning models. As a Senior Data Specialist, you will be an expert in data engineering, including new data engineering technologies, data pipeline development, design, data modeling, and analysis. Your responsibilities include: Designing and developing data engineering assets and scalable feature engineering frameworks to support various business units and data science activities. Expanding data platform capabilities by sourcing and integrating new data to resolve data challenges. Implementing internal process improvements, automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for scalability. Peer reviewing code, promoting DevOps culture, and adhering to architecture best practices. Developing ETL solutions using Python, Databricks, Spark, and Microsoft Azure Stack, including building ADF frameworks for data migration to Azure Cloud. About You You should have proven experience in data management, solution design, and delivery. You need strong communication skills, stakeholder influence, and a good understanding of the data management lifecycle and data quality. A passion for learning new data tools and practices is essential. Qualifications include: Solid experience with MS Stack: SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, SQL Experience with MongoDB, Graph databases, programming languages (R, Python, Spark, SQL, Visual Studio), CI tools (Bamboo or similar), GitHub, Jira, Confluence Experience leading data teams Ability to work independently and in Agile teams Strong knowledge of data lifecycle and quality management About QBE QBE is an international insurer committed to resilience, innovation, and diversity.
