Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.The Institute of Precision Medicine & Bioinformatics at Sydney Local Health District is seeking a Hospital Scientist to join a team in testing actionable mutations in solid tumours and supporting precision cancer treatment. The team includes Specialists, Scientists, and technicians. The service utilises a range of genomic testing technologies to identify driver mutations in solid tumours. The Scientist should be experienced in FFPE DNA testing. Additional duties include participation in other laboratory-based initiatives to promote precision medicine within Sydney Local Health District.Applicants for this position must have a thorough and practical understanding of DNA genomic testing, excellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership in laboratory science. They should be able to work individually as well as part of a team. An understanding of working in a NATA accredited medical testing environment would be desirable. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering laboratory activities that comply with operational procedures, quality standards and continual process improvement. Experience in FFPE-based testing and in silico annotation would be considered an important skill for this position.For more information, please view the Position Description.Ideal CandidateBachelor or higher degree in Science/Biomedical Science or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in a DNA genomics laboratory environment.Prior laboratory-based experience with genomic analytic platforms including next generation sequencing.Has experience and knowledge with FFPE-based testing and in silico annotation.Benefits and Perks!Accrued Day Off each month, paid Parental Leave & Annual Leave loading.Opportunity for extra tax savings through Salary Packaging and Novated Leasing.
