Our mission is to challenge systemic injustices faced by those who are oppressed, forgotten and hurting by providing responsive solutions, advocacy and hope.Position SummaryThe Driver is responsible for transporting residents, staff, and essential supplies to and from various locations, providing a crucial link in the daily operations of the shelterSome of the duties include:Transport shelter residents to scheduled appointments, medical visits, and other essential destinationsTransport residents and their belongings when they move outTransport meals to overflow sitesTransport staff, volunteers, and board members during various community engagement eventsCoordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure the vehicles are in good working condition; report any issues promptly and schedule regular maintenance, as neededMaintain a respectful and supportive demeanor when dealing with shelter clients, offering assistance as necessary and providing information about schedules and proceduresCoordinate transportation schedules to accommodate shelter needs and ensure punctuality for appointmentsMaintain accurate records of all trips, including destinations, times, and any relevant notesAdhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure the safety of clients and other road usersCommunicate effectively with all interested parties to ensure a smooth and coordinated transportation processBe prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or vehicle breakdowns, and follow established protocolsActively participates in quality improvement activities of the program/agencyMaintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct in terms of privacy of client information and adherence to confidentiality policies & upholds the service philosophyPerform other duties as assigned that support the mission of the agencyQualificationsOur ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent; some experience working with the homeless, chemically dependent, or mentally disabled individuals; and effective communication and crisis intervention skills.
