Victoria Daly Regional Council runs a range of programs to engage the Indigenous communities.How youll make a differenceVictoria Daly Regional Council is looking for a full-time Roads, Infrastructure & Assets Coordinator based in Katherine, NT.In this key operational role, you will report directly to the Director of Council Operations and be responsible for overseeing road construction and infrastructure management across the region.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Providing high-level technical advice and oversight on road and infrastructure worksPreparing and maintaining asset management and replacement plans, including costingsManaging capital works aligned with Council''s infrastructure prioritiesReviewing and implementing work schedules, tenders, and contract documentationOverseeing the compliance, delivery, and quality of road and asset projectsCoordinating contractors, stakeholders, and Council teams to meet project timelinesConducting on-site inspections and ensuring performance, WHS compliance, and reportingSupporting grant submissions and strategic planning with infrastructure insightsEnsuring up-to-date registers of contractors and permit complianceIdentifying infrastructure faults and determining remedial actionsDriving between remote communities in challenging conditions when requiredManaging extensive travel to support on-ground delivery in smaller communitiesYou will be directly involved in the delivery of a wide range of critical grant-based and state-funded Council projects. Your work will touch on various areas such as infrastructure upgrades, staff housing community facilities, environmental sustainability, and disaster recovery initiatives.As the Victoria Daly region has a large Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, you will need to ensure cultural sensitivity and awareness across all activities.What youll bring to the teamTo qualify, you will need extensive experience in infrastructure and asset management, with demonstrated skills in overseeing contractors and road construction projects. A Certificate IV in Civil, Construction, or Mechanical Engineering is highly desirable.You must also bring:Deep knowledge of contract and project management in government or regional settingsBudget planning, forecasting, and expenditure tracking experienceSkilled report writing and document preparation capabilitiesFamiliarity with procurement and legislative complianceStrong interpersonal, stakeholder engagement, and planning skillsA current Driver Licence, WWC Card, and recent Criminal History CheckThe following will be highly valued:Prior experience in Local Government or working within Aboriginal communitiesCapability to 4WD and work in remote and all-weather conditionsFamiliarity with challenges and best practices in servicing remote regionsAs our ideal candidate, youre an adaptable, solutions-focused leader with a strategic mindset and the ability to work across technical, operational, and compliance demands.
