Sugar Research Australia - Non-Executive Directors Sugar Research Australia Limited (SRA), Australias leading Sugar Industry Research Organisation, is seeking to appoint up to three Non-Executive Directors to join its board . Rewarding board opportunity for experienced directors Contribute to national and international research strategy with expertise in agricultural innovation, and oversight of complex R&D programs, and/or finance, accounting and audit expertise About SRA SRA is an industry-owned company which invests in and manages a portfolio of research, development, and adoption (RD&A) projects that drive productivity, profitability, and sustainability for the Australian sugarcane industry. SRA is governed by a skills-based board of seven directors including the Chair, a majority of whom must be independent. The role of the board includes to approve strategic and operating plans, review the companys performance against plans, and seek advice and recommendations from the SRA Research Funding Panel for contestable investment of the SRA Research Funding Pool. Key selection criteria For the three current positions , the Director Selection Committee is specifically seeking experienced non-executive directors with an innovative, expansive mindset with expertise and knowledge in one or more of the following : Skillset 1 : Specialist expertise in the following: National and international Research and Development and technology transfer Knowledge of and experience in pathways for the optimum adoption of research outcomes for potential commercialisation An understanding of how to facilitate the adoption of research outcomes and their translation into commercially viable products, services or practices for the industry, and Administration, prioritisation, oversight, monitoring of Research and Development which includes executive and/or Board experience in this area and an understanding of benefits of economic analysis in relation to R&D projects. Skillset 2 : Executive and/or Board experience in financial accounting and reporting, risk (including cyber security) and internal controls, particularly within an R&D or similar environment. Skillset 3 : E xperience in developing, implementing and constructively challenging plans of action, ensuring SRA remains adaptive, future-focused, and accountable. This includes: Understanding of the sugar industry or similar sectors, and the ability to drive strategic outcomes that reflect the needs of growers, millers, and research stakeholders, and Ability to ask insightful questions, test assumptions, and challenge plans constructively within a governance or leadership setting. The successful candidates should be Graduates of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course (or equivalent), or willing to undertake the AICD Course. Directors are remunerated by way of a fixed annual fee. Reasonable board-related expenses are met by the company. Directors will be appointed for a maximum term of up to three years.
