We are searching for an innovative and enthusiastic personwho is adept at building great relationships bothinternally and externally.Are you looking for a role with impact? As the CommunityEngagement Specialist, you will continue to build and shape how theCity engages with our friendly, eager and willing community on arange of diverse topics, from playgrounds through to long termstrategies that will influence how Kwinana looks in the decades tocome. You will be able to personally improve civicparticipation while working collaboratively with others, to ensurethe right decisions are made alongside our residents andcommunity.Reporting to the Coordinator Engagement and Place, you will workclosely with an outstanding team, who care deeply about serving ourlocal community. Practically, you will use the CitysEngagement Framework to help improve communication internally andexternally, all while building effective partnerships to promotethe exchange of information and ideas. You will be thecatalyst in supporting and encouraging a diverse range of communityvoices to have a say and participate in decisions that affectthem.As the go-to specialist in this field, you will championcommunity engagement and continue building capability across theorganisation, whilst driving an organisational culture that centresaround deliberate and meaningful interactions with community, inthe interest of fostering strong and meaningful relationships.What to Expect?Within 3 months you will;Be the Citys champion of the Engagement Framework,as well as be the Chairperson on the internal EngagementChampions Cross Functional Team.Understand the different departments within the City, andtheir role in building a thriving community.You will have begun to establish relationships with keyinternal and external stakeholders to the engagementportfolio.Be attending key opportunities for engagement within thecommunity.Within 6 months you will;Be able to confidently champion the Citys onlineengagement tool, Love My Kwinana and, along with other membersof the Engagement Team, provide back-end support and advice toother internal users.Have comprehensive relationships with internalstakeholders, and a good grasp of key community champions andcommunity organisations to support the delivery of theCitys engagement projects.Be providing coaching to other teams in how to plan anddeliver their engagement projects. This will includehosting/coaching in-person workshops, stalls or informationnights with a view to upskilling other staff to be able to leadthe delivery of in-person engagements in the future.About YouTo be successful in this role, weenvisage that you will need the following:Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline or extensiverelevant industry experience in a direct (or related) communityengagement position.An extensive understanding of contemporary communityengagement and stakeholder management strategies.Experience or study in the IAP2 framework.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with otherstaff to promote positive engagement practices.Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;including peer coaching and workshop facilitation skills.Highly effective time management and organisational skillswith an ability to prioritise and work on multiple projectsconcurrently.Highly developed computer literacy skills demonstrated instrategic document development, project planning, reportwriting and correspondence.Current valid C Class Drivers Licence, Provide First Aidand Police Clearance.Ability to work after hours as required and undertakephysical manual handling task for delivering engagement atevents and activations.Experience with the Granicus (previously Engagement HQ /Bang the Table) digital engagement platform and/or similarengagement software.Previous Local Government knowledge and experience.To be considered for this position, in addition to a coverletter and resume, applicantsmustaddress the above criteria givingspecific examples in no more than three (3) pages.Interested?For more information relating to the position (not applicationpacks) call Alexi Peacock, Coordinator Engagement and Place on 94390429.Applications close 5.00pm Wednesday 18 June2025The City of Kwinana reserves the right to commencerecruitment prior to the closing date, and willnotaccept or consider late applicationsThe City of Kwinana promotes and values diversity tocreate a unique work force.
