Defence Housing Australia is seeking a strategic and values-driven SES Band 1 Chief Governance Officer (CGO) to lead the Governance and Communication (G&C) Branch within the People and Compliance (P&C) Group. This pivotal leadership role ensures the integrity, transparency, and performance of DHAs corporate governance, supporting the organisation to deliver on its purpose with confidence. Position: Chief Governance Officer Level: SES BAND 1 Salary Range: The salary will be commensurate with the SES Band 1 level. The Total Remuneration Package (TRP) will be negotiated based on skills and experience. Location: Canberra About us DHA was established in 1988 following the passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide housing and housing-related services to members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We are committed to supporting Defences operational needs by providing suitable housing options. DHA manages an expanding portfolio, housing over 17,200 ADF members and their families, and offers an opportunity for an experienced Chief Governance Officer to join the team. About the role The CGO leads the Governance and Communication (G&C) Branch within the P&C Group, which includes Governance & Communication, Legal Services, and Human Resources, enabling DHA to operate effectively and efficiently. The CGO provides leadership and advice on governance strategies, engages with DHAs Board and key stakeholders, including ministers and government agencies, and holds roles as Chief Security Officer, Chief Audit Executive, and Principal Officer delegate under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013. About your team The G&C team ensures effective information flow, supporting governance, transparency, integrity, and compliance. The CGO oversees four teams: Communication and Media Strategic Governance (including Risk & Internal Audit, Assurance, Compliance & Insurance, Policy & Quality) Governance Operations (including Privacy & FOI, Integrity & Security, WHS) Secretariat, Parliamentary & Executive Coordination (including Board secretariat) The role is responsible for: Providing leadership and stewardship of the G&C branch, contributing to DHAs work program. Engaging with the Board and executives to promote governance, compliance, and integrity strategies. Leading the development of an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework aligned with DHAs corporate intent. Building relationships with Commonwealth, State/Territory, and non-government stakeholders. Representing DHA in high-level cross-agency forums. Collaborating with the Managing Director and Senior Executives to support DHAs strategic objectives. Supporting streamlined governance to enable transparent decision-making and resource allocation. Promoting DHA-wide initiatives beyond the immediate work program. #J-18808-Ljbffr
