The Rockhampton Mental Health Service includes an Inpatient Unit, Older Persons Inpatient Unit, and Acute Care Team located on the hospital campus. The Mental Health Community Services Team is based in the CBD of Rockhampton.The consultant team comprises 17.5 positions with subspecialty interests including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Prison and Forensic Mental Health.Junior medical officers are rostered as first on call, with consultants as second on call.RequirementsApplicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or an overseas-trained specialist who has completed training in the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABPN certified), or New Zealand.The Medical Board of Australia has introduced a new expedited pathway to specialist registration, effective from December 2024, which eliminates the need for a specialist assessment with a college for those with accepted qualifications in Psychiatry. Accepted qualifications include MRCPsych and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).The LocationRockhampton features colonial charm with palm-lined streets and heritage buildings, creating a vibrant community atmosphere.
