Junior Network Engineer - NV1 Security Clearance About the Company Our client is a Fortune 500 company that services 99% of Fortune 500 companies and Government Agencies worldwide. In Canberra, we operate the Government Security Operations Centre (GSOC), supporting Australian Government departments. About the Role This Junior Network Security Engineer role involves overseeing, managing, and advising customers on our products and services. Responsibilities include Change Management, Incident Resolution, ensuring security protocol adherence, and maintaining 99.99% gateway availability. The role requires working 12-hour day and night shifts on a 24/7 roster, similar to a 5-days-on, 5-days-off schedule. It offers an excellent opportunity for entry-level IT engineers or experienced networking professionals seeking broader gateway environment experience. Responsibilities Manage Change Management processes, including preparing and implementing changes on Gateway Devices such as routers, firewalls, proxies, DNS servers, and load balancers. Work with customers to troubleshoot and diagnose network traffic issues for Incident Resolution. Monitor and respond to Health Alerts. Handle Service Desk functions, including ticket allocation and prioritization based on SLAs. Manage internal and external communications. Respond to customer requests via email and phone. Qualifications Bachelors degree or at least one year of relevant work experience. One or more years of experience in IT/Networking or a similar role. Experience with Linux, DNS, Firewalls, F5, VMware, Proxies, and Email Gateway appliances. NV1 Security clearance or eligibility to maintain it. Willingness to work on a 24x7 rotating shift schedule, including weekends and public holidays. Required Skills Enthusiasm for working in 24x7 high-availability, mission-critical environments. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Self-driven, motivated, with good communication and analytical skills. Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment. Preferred Skills Experience with Secure Internet Gateway environments. Relevant certifications such as Cisco, Checkpoint, Juniper, Palo Alto, Bluecoat, ITIL. Knowledge of AWS. Understanding of coding and scripting languages. Experience with automation tools. Knowledge of Visual Studio and Code Commit. Familiarity with Gitlab. Additional Responsibilities Implement security controls to mitigate risks during development. Analyze new networking solutions for security concerns and work with teams to implement mitigations. Stay updated on emerging security technologies. Provide client support and escalate security issues as needed. Review requirements, design, code, test, and support secure applications, maintaining knowledge of programming languages, data analytics, and automation tools.
