The successful applicant will work closely with the Emergency Medicine Clinical Director. A key part of this role will be assisting the Clinical Director in providing an appropriate teaching program and to ensure the supervision of clinical practice and training of undergraduates and postgraduates in the emergency department.Our client is looking for emergency physicians that have strong and effective communication, conflict management and team-building skills as well as being proficient in leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills, and developed in written and verbal communication skills.THE HOSPITAL:The Hospitals emergency department sees 27,000 cases per year with an admission rate of 20%. They are a regional trauma centre, seeing major trauma from road, farm, and factory incidents, and are supported by a number of specialties including Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Intensive Care, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Geriatrics as well as General Surgery and Medicine.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES, AND DUTIES:Clinical leadership and management roles primarily involve supporting the Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine in quality and risk management activities.Support and assist in the training of medical students, junior medical staff and nursing staff involved in the management of emergency medicine patients.Participate in the Hospitals Healthcare Medical Emergency Response Plan.Participation in relevant research activities.Comply with continuing educational activities as outlined by ACEM and other relevant professional bodies.Perform other duties the Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine might reasonably direct from time to time.Providing support and leadership to promote excellence in medical education.Being supportive and promoting research within the hospitals and the community where required.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:Broad experience in the field of Emergency Medicine to enable confident clinical practice within a regional area.Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Emergency Physicians, or ACEM assessed as substantially comparable accepted.Have a commitment to quality improvement activities relating to Emergency Medicine practice.Effective communication, conflict management and team building skills.Experience with training needs of junior medical staff.Leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills are recommended, as are developed written and verbal communication skills.THE LOCATION:This location is a major regional city located just a 3-hour drive from Melbourne CBD. It is known as Victorias most livable city and the most productive farming region. It boasts an enviable mix of seaside location, tourism, and family appeal. There are four daily return train services from this region to Melbournes Southern Cross train station and the city is served by a convenient network of bus routes. Education needs for all ages are covered, there are kindergartens in all suburbs of this region, 11 primary schools and 4 secondary schools along with a TAFE campus and a campus of Deakin University.
