More About the Role at University of Sydney Part-time (0.2 FTE) Continuing opportunity as a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in dental education Make a significant contribution to student education as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Dental School (SDS) Base Salary Academic Level B $122,830 - $145,858 (pro-rata) or Academic Level C $150,461 $173,492 (pro-rata) 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney School of Dentistry (Sydney Dental School or SDS) is ranked amongst the top dental schools internationally and is one of the largest dental schools in Australia. It has campuses in the Sydney Dental Hospital (in inner-eastern Sydney) and the Westmead Centre for Oral Health at Westmead Hospital (in western Sydney), and outreach service-based teaching is undertaken across the state of NSW. The School is seeking to appoint an outstanding Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Dental Education. The purpose of this role is to deliver clinical learning experiences and mentorship to students across the SDS. The position will contribute to the leadership and reputation of the University of Sydney and Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) by participating in collegial governance and decision-making and fostering a culture of excellence through guiding academic staff and students towards success. Your key responsibilities as a Lecturer (Level B) will be to: Deliver core clinical learning experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students engaged in SDS education programs deliver clinical education in dental practice and provide mentorship to students engage with professional learning opportunities provided at the faculty and University level develop educational resources which reflect contemporary and innovative practices in the discipline, including clinical educational practice assist in the coordination of activities of other academic staff within the team or discipline. Your key responsibilities as a Senior Lecturer (Level C in addition to the above): Establish collaborations and partnerships to enhance the research profile and reputation of the university design, coordinate and deliver quality educational units of study and experiences that support student learning and meet accredited curriculum requirements, and contribute to the innovative design, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the areas of health research and evidence translation in healthcare provide leadership that has a significant impact on teaching, innovation, curriculum development, research training and supervision within the school participate in academic administration, school meetings, and initiatives aligned with the faculty and the University''s strategic priorities. About you (Lecturer Level B): Registered as a General Dentist or Specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Preferably a PhD in dentistry or equivalent research experience in dentistry and health professional education significant experience working in a clinical setting and proven ability to apply expertise and knowledge to inform pedagogical practice (usually more than three years post an accredited health professional qualification) experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities demonstrated capacity to stimulate, actively engage and educate students in the provision of outstanding patient care a network of relationships with key academic, clinical and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by student coaching and skills development demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives with a clinical focus. About you (Senior Lecturer Level C in addition to the above): PhD in dentistry or relevant field Established scholarship or research track record in dental research or health professional education prior and proven experience in clinical teaching.
