Youll lead the development of positions on key market reformssuch as transmission access, capacity mechanisms, and system servicesacross regulatory processes involving the AEMC, AEMO, AER and ACCC.Working closely with commercial and strategy teams, youll help the business navigate the evolving regulatory environment by identifying risks and opportunities. Youll be a key voice in consultations, industry forums, and submissionsensuring market design outcomes are economically sound, investable, and aligned with long-term business goals.Key Responsibilities:Lead economic analysis on wholesale energy market reform, access models and capacity signalsDevelop regulatory submissions and impact assessments for market design changesRepresent the business in stakeholder engagement with regulatory bodies and industry forumsProvide insight into transmission investment frameworks, congestion management and access reformAssess regulatory risks and opportunities for commercial and asset development teamsMonitor policy and rule change processes affecting the National Electricity Market (NEM)Collaborate with internal legal, commercial and trading teams to align strategy with reform outcomesTranslate complex regulatory issues into clear, actionable business adviceBusiness Coverage:Wholesale electricity market reform and designTransmission access, capacity investment and system servicesNEM policy, rules and regulatory frameworksCommercial, regulatory and strategic alignmentCandidate Profile:Degree qualified in economics, public policy, or a related field (postgraduate highly regarded)58 years of experience in market design, regulatory economics or energy policyDeep understanding of NEM operations, AEMC and AEMO reform programsSkilled in economic modelling, impact evaluation and regulatory submissionsConfident communicator with experience in policy consultation and advocacyCommercial awareness and ability to collaborate across strategy and technical functionsStrong analytical and strategic thinking skillsWhats on Offer:Competitive salary range of $183,500 to $221,000 plus superannuation and bonus eligibilityFlexible hybrid working arrangements supporting work-life balanceAccess to discounted energy plans, wellbeing allowance, and employee assistance programsOngoing professional development, mentoring, and clear career progression pathwaysComprehensive benefits package including additional paid leave and health initiativesDArcy Weil is supporting our long-standing client, a leading energy innovator, in their search for a Senior Regulatory Economist.
