Griffith City Council is proactive and energetic and passionate about creating ongoing opportunities for our growing population.Council is seeking applications from enthusiastic motivated individuals for the following position.PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE OFFICER (Permanent)The purpose of the Planning and Environmental Compliance Officer is to assist Council in receiving and investigating all complaints and enquiries on non-conforming development related issues and instigate appropriate action not related to Ranger Services.On a Typical Day This Role WillTriage complaints and undertake investigations, including routine field work and inspections, as required.Prepare statutory orders and notices under relevant legislation to resolve unlawful activities.Prepare investigative reports, issue fines and compile briefs of evidence where court action is required.Look for opportunities to implement proactive intervention strategies to address systemic issues based on data or other intelligence.Communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders.Qualifications: The successful applicant will require a current Australian class C driver''s licence. Please include copies of all relevant licenses and qualifications.Knowledge & Skills: The successful applicant will require knowledge of current relevant legislation, regulation and standards in law enforcement, Local Government or compliance related fields. Sound communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to address and deal effectively with members of the community, developers, elected representatives and state government departmentsHours of work: 35 hours per week.Salary and conditions: Commencement annual salary from $81,317.60 to $89,445.17 (Grade 13).
