The Senior Project Officer, Housing - Far North Queensland Region, is based at the Cairns Regional Office and offers a unique opportunity to support remote communities across the Cape and Torres Strait.Working closely with the Regional Infrastructure Team, the successful applicant will assist with the management of teacher housing.The role involves regular travel to remote schools and plays a vital role in ensuring quality housing support for educators.This position reports to the College Principal at Tagai State College and is until 14 July 2026, unless otherwise determined.About The TeamThe Cape York & Torres Strait Advisory Group is a group made up of Principals from all Level 7 schools in Cape York and the Torres Strait. The Advisory Group in partnership with the Partnership Initiative funds 3 distinct roles: Senior Project Officer - Principal Support , Senior Project Officer - Housing and HOD - Digital Learning. These roles specifically service Aurukun SS, Northern Peninsula Area State College, Tagai State College, Kowanyama SS and Lockhart SS. The Advisory Group exists to identify complex educational issues unique to remote communities and works with the Partnership Initiative team to overcome these barriers.Your OpportunityAs The Senior Project Officer, You WillUndertake specialist project activities to achieve the outcomes expected of the project.Oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of program plans and phases, including the coordination of the various activities associated with achieving the project objectives.The Senior Project Officer reports to the College Principal, Tagai State College as a representative of the Cape York and Torres Strait Advisory Group, Far North Qld.Your ResponsibilitiesAs the Senior Project Officer, Housing -, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Provision of policy advice to LACs/LAOs as needed - for example, in the management of teacher housing in accordance with the Teacher Housing Policy and Procedure.Administrative support for LACs/LAOs in managing tenancies, as needed. Develop and maintain support systems such as Sharepoint.Develop and maintain systems that are consistently in use across all sites in the groupPrepare a report for participating schools on progress, outcomes and challenges identified within the delivery of the role, such as at CY & TS AG meetings or at other opportune times such as via Teams.Attendance at relevant agenda sections of CY & TS AG meetings.Desirable SkillsThe ideally the successful applicant will have:Exceptional communication skillsExtensive experience in administration supportAbility for regular travel to remote communities on small aircraftExperience with support systems such as SharePointKnowledge of teacher housing Policies and Procedures or capacity to gain knowledgePlease refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.Interested?
