ABOUT THE ROLE The Cultural Services Manager is responsible for leading and growing Darumbal Enterprises Pty Ltd Cultural Services Unit, focusing on building the internal capacity of Darumbal People to manage and deliver cultural services. This includes overseeing a team comprising Liaison Officers, a Cultural Heritage Coordinator, Cultural Services Officers, and casual heritage workers. In this leadership role, you will ensure the effective and timely delivery of cultural heritage surveys and services, maintaining compliance with statutory rights and obligations. A key focus is quality assurance of all cultural heritage activities, including survey planning, reporting, stakeholder liaison, and engaging archaeologists and anthropologists as needed. The Cultural Services Manager also ensures engagement with project proponents aligns with Indigenous Land Use Agreements (ILUAs) and other partnerships, delivering meaningful outcomes and employment opportunities for the Darumbal People. The role also involves ensuring all cultural services are delivered respectfully and in a culturally appropriate manner, upholding Darumbal values and protocols. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage a team responsible for the care and conservation of heritage sites, collections, and artifacts. Manage team members providing liaison services with proponents developing projects on Darumbal country and delivering cultural heritage training. Oversee daily management of staff, coordination, service delivery, and staff wellbeing and safety. Develop, implement, and review heritage management policies and plans. Coordinate with local communities, stakeholders, and government bodies. Manage the unit''s budget, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing and financial management. Ensure proper research, documentation, and storage of heritage assets. Ensure staff are qualified and updated on current knowledge and practices. Support negotiations and development of ILUAs and Cultural Heritage Management Agreements. Stay informed on legislative and national developments in cultural heritage management. Lead problem-solving for cultural services issues organization-wide. Prepare and present reports, briefings, and submissions to the CEO and Board. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Significant experience in cultural services or community engagement roles. Proven ability to develop and deliver cultural programs and initiatives. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong project management and problem-solving skills. Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
