We deliver innovative and flexible services to empower people to thrive and live a great life, and we are committed to a philosophy that respects the rights of individuals to make informed choices about their lives.About the roleThis position is responsible for providing leadership, oversight and on the job training to support our Skill Development Coaches (SDC) to ensure best practice and compliance with safe working procedures when supporting people with a disability in a workshop environment. As a direct support worker, the position holder actively supports participants to learn how to work safely, including safe use of tools and machinery, whilst assisting them to achieve their goals and engage in their chosen projects.Responsibilities include:Deliver person centred support, ensuring that participants identify suitable projects that utilise carpentry/woodworking skillsProvide supervision, coaching, mentoring and support for SDCs to ensure quality and individualised support is provided to participantsSet up, pack up, general cleaning, approved maintenance, and safety checks of equipment and workshopDevelop detailed session plans to outline steps required to achieve projects while taking into consideration participant choices, support needs, equipment/ materials needed, budgets and safety considerationsAbout youYoull support people with disabilities through person-centered carpentry projects, leveraging your knowledge and team management skills. With a strong focus on workplace safety, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills, youll build positive relationships with participants, families, and staff. A willingness to obtain a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is essential.
