The role includes server administration, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and providing database administration (DBA) support for Windows-based database systems.Key Responsibilities Deploy, configure, and maintain Windows servers on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, ensuring all systems are set up according to best practices and organizational requirements. Manage Active Directory environments, including the creation and maintenance of user accounts, group policies, and permissions to ensure secure and efficient access control. Perform regular patching and updates of Windows servers and associated software, utilizing OCI tools and automation to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with security standards. Remediate vulnerabilities identified through security scans and audits by applying necessary patches, configuration changes, or other corrective measures to protect the environment from threats. Monitor system performance, proactively identify potential issues, and troubleshoot server and database-related problems to ensure high availability and optimal operation. Automate routine administrative tasks such as user provisioning, backups, and monitoring using scripting languages like PowerShell, as well as OCIs native automation tools. Support and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for both servers and databases, ensuring data integrity and business continuity. Assist with database administration tasks on Windows servers, including installation, configuration, backup, performance tuning, and troubleshooting for SQL Server or Oracle Database. Collaborate with security, network, and application teams to design and implement integrated solutions that meet organizational objectives and compliance requirements. Maintain comprehensive documentation for system and database configurations, procedures, and changes to support operational transparency and knowledge sharing.Key Knowledge Areas Possesses in-depth knowledge of Windows Server administration and architecture, including deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management. Demonstrates familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services, management console, and integration points with Windows environments. Understands patch management processes and tools specific to Windows environments, ensuring timely and effective application of updates. Applies best practices in vulnerability management and remediation, staying current with emerging threats and mitigation techniques. Has expertise in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects to ensure secure and efficient network operations. Understands backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions for both Windows servers and databases, ensuring rapid recovery from failures. Possesses foundational knowledge of database administration, including installation, configuration, security, and performance tuning of databases on Windows platforms. Utilizes scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python to automate administrative and operational tasks. Applies security standards and compliance requirements for both cloud and Windows environments. Uses monitoring and alerting tools to proactively manage server and database health and performance.Required Technical Skills Demonstrates hands-on experience administering Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022 environments on OCI or similar cloud platforms. Is proficient in patching, server management, and the remediation of vulnerabilities to maintain secure and compliant systems. Has practical experience managing Active Directory and implementing Group Policy Objects to enforce security and operational policies. Utilizes PowerShell scripting to automate administrative tasks and streamline operations. Is capable of performing database administration tasks, preferably with SQL Server or Oracle Database running on Windows servers. Implements and manages backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect critical data and ensure business continuity. Is familiar with OCI Identity and Access Management (IAM) and its integration with Windows environments. Monitors and troubleshoots performance issues for both servers and databases, ensuring optimal operation. Implements security controls and compliance measures to safeguard systems and data. Maintains accurate and detailed documentation of server and database configurations and changes.Qualifications Holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Has at least 3 years of experience as a Windows Administrator, with exposure to OCI or other cloud platforms. Demonstrates experience in patching, server management, and the remediation of security vulnerabilities. Possesses working knowledge of database administration on Windows servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
