Each day, our researchers and graduates are tackling global health challenges and striving to improve equity in communities locally and around the world.A postdoctoral researcher is required to research and strengthen immunisation programs and surveillance for vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) in the Asia-Pacific region. The successful candidate will support the implementation of electronic immunisation registries and strengthen surveillance systems to monitor VPDs in Lao PDR, The Philippines and Fiji. The position is co-funded by the NHMRC-funded eAsia Joint Research Program to address collaborative surveillance for measles in Southeast Asia, as well as the Australian Government''s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Australian Regional Immunisation Alliance (ARIA) funded project on improving measles vaccine uptake using Electronic Immunisation Registers. The successful candidate will also support other projects in the region.This is a unique opportunity for a post-doctoral research fellow to contribute to important research on infectious diseases prevention and control in the Asia-Pacific region. The role will be embedded in the Infectious Diseases, Immunisation and Emergencies (IDIE) Group.Your key responsibilities will be to:Work with the research team to understand current research questions and needs.Collaborate with the project leader and team to develop research protocols, ethics applications, and project implementation.Provide deep technical knowledge and project management support to the project leader and collaborate with academic and research professionals.Lead and contribute to research activities, including designing research protocols, analysis, and reporting findings.Ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting.Contribute to research papers and grant applications.Facilitate effective communication among stakeholders and team members.Assist in grant development and project design.Travel to Southeast Asia and Pacific as required (approx. 1-3 times per year), with possible domestic travel.About youEssential skillsPhD (or near completion) in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or related field.Experience in vaccine programs, public health surveillance, and epidemiology.Proficiency with Statistical Software STATA and/or R Studio or similar.Project management experience in research.Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and building effective relationships.Scientific writing skills for publications and grants.Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks.Working With Children Check clearance.Desirable skillsExperience with mixed-method research.Experience in resource-limited settings.Background in global public health.Note: Visa sponsorship is not available; valid work rights for Australia are required.
