We have been built on the pillars of authenticity, integrity, provenance and character and embed this into everything we do from our people through to the products we create, that our customers love.Job DescriptionPurpose of the Role:The Financial Accountant plays a critical role in managing month-end processes, commercial reporting, stock analysis, and audit preparation within the finance team. This position supports both operational and strategic initiatives, ensuring financial integrity, accuracy, and timely reporting for informed decision-making across the business.Key Responsibilities:Month-End Close (45%)Lead pre-month-end adjustments, clearing prior period issuesReview month-end tasks prepared by Accountant, AP and PayrollCollaborate with department heads to track and explain budget/forecast variancesProvide P&L reports and commentary by Day 4 and financial statements by Day 7Maintain and review key balance sheet reconciliationsCommercial Reporting & Projects (25%)Conduct detailed variance analysis on standard accounts and product costsPartner with production to investigate variances in product costingDeliver ad hoc reports and support key business initiativesYear-End & Audit (15%)Prepare year-end adjustments and liaise with external auditorsCoordinate documentation and fulfil audit data requirementsStock & Inventory Finance (10%)Manage the financial side of stocktakes and liaise with Loss PreventionReport and analyse stocktake results and monthly SOH components with ProductionOther Responsibilities (5%)Mentor junior accountants and contribute to finance improvement projectsSupport Financial Controller and CFO in broader strategic initiativesAdhere to company policies, ensuring ethical, social, and environmental governanceDesired Skills and ExperienceSkills & Experience RequiredQualifications: CPA or CA qualifiedExperience: Minimum 3 years experience in a financial accounting role, preferably within a retail or product-based environmentTechnical Skills:Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, modelling, and data analysisExperience with general ledger systems and financial reporting toolsAbility to work with large data sets and data warehousesCommunication:Strong verbal and written communication skillsConfident in liaising with department heads and senior stakeholdersBehavioural Attributes:High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracyAbility to work independently and manage multiple deadlinesProactive problem-solving skills and action-oriented mindsetStrong ethical standards aligned with M.J.
