The role requires a strategic thinker and skilled communicator who can translate complex public health research into compelling advocacy materials and engagement strategies.ACOSH staff benefits include:Additional leave over Christmas: ACOSH has a one-week mandatory shutdown period between Christmas and New Year which is afforded to all employees in addition to the standard 4-week annual leave entitlement.Flexible work options and hybrid working.Modern, spacious offices with sit-to-stand desks.Save on tax and increase your take home pay by salary packaging up to $15,899 of Living Expenses and up to $2,650 on Entertainment Benefits each FBT year.ABOUT THE ROLEJOB TITLE: Manager Advocacy & Stakeholder EngagementJOB TYPE: Part-time (0.8FTE)LOCATION: 334 Rokeby Rd, Subiaco WA 6008SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: Chief Executive OfficerSALARY SCALE: $120,000 - $125,000 pro rata at 0.8FTEKEY RESPONSIBILITIESLead the development of tobacco control advocacy projects.Plan, implement and evaluate tobacco control advocacy initiatives.Develop submissions around current tobacco control issues e.g. legislative control of tobacco products, advertising of tobacco products, pricing of tobacco products, reducing the number of retail outlets for tobacco products and smoking in public places.Generate and implement evidence-based advocacy approaches in collaboration with key stakeholders to address the current vaping crisis.Maintain knowledge of existing global tobacco industry initiatives, to identify opportunities to expose industry interference.Engage in strategic communication strategies and maintain relationships with key media outlets.Facilitate policy-relevant research through collaboration with academic bodies.Editing, proofing and finalizing various communication, advocacy and office documentation.ESSENTIAL CRITERIATertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience.Advanced written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated high level of attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality written materials and manage complex information effectively.Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships.Proven experience in planning, implementing and evaluating advocacy strategies.Ability to be assertive, creative, flexible and provide sound strategic judgement.Proven project management skills around managing budgets and contractual agreements with external agencies.Experience in managing and mentoring a dynamic team.Being a non-smoker and non-vaper.DESIRABLE CRITERIAKnowledge of tobacco control issues, methods and priorities.An understanding of the Australian political, legislative and judicial systems and ability to assess issues in the political, economic and social environments.A current drivers license.ABOUT YOUWere looking for aproactive and strategic advocatewith strong relationship-building and communication skills.
