We work with pride when called upon yet strive for work/life balance.This position will prepare quarterly financial packages, statutory reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, analyses, journal entries, compliance filings, and work on projects. This position will also work with data cubes and accounting hubs and prepare ad hoc financial analyses. The Accountant III will be partnering with others in the finance organization, as well as, interacting with underwriting, claims, actuary, and compliance departments.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine financial close activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial package preparationPerform quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and investigate unusual itemsMaintain accurate and detailed quarterly accrual schedulesEnsure the accurate and timely recording and reconciliation of all intercompany activity by researching and resolving differences with other entitiesProvide support to the corporate team, as necessaryAssist with other ad hoc responsibilities including participation in special projects, such as system implementation and/or enhancements, business integration, internal controls, and ad hoc analysesAssist in the preparation of GAAP and Regulatory financial statements.Qualifications5+ years of strong and progressive accounting experience, including experience in preparing financial statements and flux analyses. Insurance industry experience a plus.Bachelors degree in Accounting required. CPA and or MBA preferred.Strong understanding and application of U.S. GAAP and SOX. Statutory accounting and reinsurance background preferred.Oracle ERP, Hyperion/FCCS, Smartview and or similar accounting software experience a plus.Intermediate to Advanced skill in Excel required.Critical thinker with ability to prepare workbooks from the ground up based on terms of contracts and or assumptions, and to organize information for presentations.Self-starter, proactive in looking for ways to improve, hard-working and highly analytical.Ability to multi-task, to prioritize competing commitments in a fast-paced environment, and to deliver under tight deadlines.Strong attention to detail and capable of delivering high quality work results.Ability to work independently, as well as, in a team environment.Excellent oral and written communication skills.The salary range for this role is $85,000-$105,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Jersey City, New Jersey. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics.
