3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicantsDirect message the job poster from Qubit AdvisoryExecutive Managing Director | Co-Founder | CIO Awarded, Technology AdvisorIBM i Systems Lead Contract Opportunity (Sydney)Location: Sydney (Hybrid)Duration: 612 months (initial term, extension likely)Eligibility: Australian Citizens onlyQubit Advisory has been engaged on behalf of a strategic enterprise client to source an experienced IBM i Systems Lead for a key program of work based in Sydney.This is a hands-on delivery role suited to a senior infrastructure specialist who brings a balance of technical depth, team leadership, and stakeholder engagement, with proven experience in IBM POWER Systems and IBM i environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the management of IBM POWER Systems running IBM i, including integration with IBM FC SAN storageOversee the day-to-day operations and administration of IBM i systems and servicesManage and maintain third-party tools supporting IBM i system management, including IBM-native toolingCoordinate hardware and software maintenance via IBM distributors and technical specialistsCollaborate with stakeholders to design and review hardware configurations aligned to business and technical requirementsLead a small technical team and ensure consistent service delivery and operational supportWork with internal account teams to support invoicing, deliverable tracking, and reportingYour BackgroundExtensive hands-on experience with IBM i (AS/400/iSeries) and IBM POWER Systems infrastructureStrong working knowledge of SAN storage, IBM hardware/software environments, and enterprise toolingDemonstrated ability to lead technical teams, engage stakeholders, and coordinate delivery in complex environmentsExperience in project and operational resource management within large-scale IT settingsConfident working with vendors and managing hardware/software support contractsExcellent communication skills and a structured, outcomes-focused approachAustralian Citizenship is essential due to client and project requirementsNice to HaveFamiliarity with third-party IBM i management tools such as HelpSystems (FORTRA) or PreciselyInterested?If you meet the above criteria and have experience working with IBM i or AS400 systems in enterprise environments, wed love to hear from you.
