About the Opportunity Reporting to the Production Manager, as the Production Supervisor you will oversee the day shift for the Detmold Packaging Australian Operation, ensuring the achievement of business plans and objectives in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Your responsibilities will include: Leading by example and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in safety and production, overseeing safety program implementation. Assisting in the notification of safety incidents and hazards, ensuring early reporting. Ensuring compliance with WHS policies and procedures, maintaining product safety, hygiene, and quality standards. Scheduling labor requirements and updating shift rosters. Managing labor to ensure timely shift and machine changeovers, scheduled line start-ups, cleaning, and meal breaks. Monitoring and managing daily production to meet plans, liaising with production staff on performance issues. Conducting performance discussions with afternoon shift employees within required timeframes. Engaging with employees regularly to identify and implement improvements in efficiency and setup times. Assisting in onboarding new workers and monitoring training plans, including weekly reviews and escalating issues to the Production Manager. Monitoring employee performance and behaviors, addressing unsatisfactory performance in collaboration with the Production Manager. Coordinating maintenance activities with tradespeople to minimize downtime and raising service requests. Investigating packaging non-conformances, including customer complaints, and compiling reports. Working proactively to minimize waste and support continuous improvement. Updating the Kronos system for workforce time and attendance. Providing daily shift reports to key stakeholders, outlining essential information. Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and other relevant computer skills. Preferred but not essential: experience in the packaging or print industry, and familiarity with 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
