Mustard is looking for a commercially minded and strategic Head of Finance to lead our global finance team. Based in Australia, you will oversee the full finance picture across our multi-entity, multi-currency e-commerce business. You will manage and mentor our growing finance team, support the business with accurate, timely financial insight, and help shape decisions that fuel our next stage of growth.This role is perfect for a qualified finance leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about building scalable systems, nurturing talent, and turning numbers into commercial clarity. You will sit on the senior leadership team and play a critical role in driving financial performance and strategic planning across our global operations.Who are we?We are Mustard. Whats in it for you?The chance to lead global finance in a company thats scaling fast Work on exciting projects that directly impact customers around the world Collaborate with passionate teams who love what they do Were a start up, be part of a journey where your ideas can shape the futureWhat youll be doingLeadership + Team DevelopmentLead and manage the global finance team, including the UK Finance Manager and AU Business Operations ManagerProvide oversight and coaching to ensure reconciliations and reporting are accurate and compliantSupport team development through goal-based coaching and regular feedbackCreate a collaborative team culture focused on continuous improvement and clear accountabilityFinancial Reporting + PerformanceLead the preparation and delivery of consolidated monthly management accounts and cashflow forecasts across all regionsProvide timely financial insights to support strategic decision-making and highlight risks and opportunitiesCollaborate with Wholesale, Ecommerce, Merchandising, Logistics, Fulfilment, and Buying teams to present financial insights that guide commercial decisionsEnsure all outputs are accurate, compliant, and presentation-ready using Spotlight (reporting) and Mayday (intercompany reconciliation)Maintain strong oversight of data integrity, providing corrective guidance where needed and identifying any missed discrepanciesContinuously improve the speed, accuracy, and clarity of reporting through automation and systems optimisationCompliance + OversightEnsure global compliance across tax, payroll, and statutory obligations (AU, UK, US, EU)Liaise with external accountants and advisors to ensure timely, accurate filingsMaking adjustments, corrections or journals to ensure accurate accountsMaintain strong internal controls, financial governance, and risk mitigation processesOversee intercompany transactions and currency exposure managementSystems + EfficiencyIdentify and implement tools and processes that support scale, speed, and accuracyChampion automation and optimisation across reporting, reconciliations, and workflowsEnsure finance systems integrate effectively with Shopify, CIN7, operational and analytics platformsBuild processes that empower our team with clear, real-time financial visibilityStrategic Insight + RiskGuide decisions on inventory management, focusing on COGS accuracy, inventory holding, and growth projections to support profitability and mitigate riskAdvise the leadership team on financial opportunities, challenges, and risksProvide input on long-term financial planning, budgeting, and scenario analysisLead the strategic management of financial risk, including FX exposure and insurance oversightPresent financial insights and recommendations clearly to both leadership and the wider teamBalance financial insight with company values to support decision-making across teamsHello, is it you were looking for?You''re a fully qualified accountant (CA, CPA, or equivalent)You have senior finance experience in an e-commerce, retail, or inventory-based businessYou''ve worked in a global, fast-growing business and understand the dynamics of a lean team, willing to pitch in to get the job doneYou''re skilled at guiding and developing a team to deliver high performanceYou balance big-picture thinking with a sharp eye for financial detail and data integrityYou bring commercial insight and communicate complex financial topics clearlyYou''re confident presenting to leadership and wider teams to drive understanding and alignmentYou''ve worked with Xero, Spotlight, Shopify, CIN7, or similar systemsYou''re experienced in driving process improvements and financial systems optimisationYou care about doing things the right waybalancing growth, profitability, and valuesThe important stuffHOME Flexible working hoursHybrid office schedule (3 days in-office)Paid personal + carers leaveWORK Named in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For 2025Competitive salary based on experience($160k DOE)Colourful office space in Newcastle, NSWAll tools and tech you could needYour own personal and professional development budgetListed in The Times Fastest Growing Companies in the UK in 2023#3 in The Times Best Companies To Watch Out For 2022Immediate start to the right candidatePLAY 24 days holiday (plus public holidays)Plus an extra day for your birthday!Regular team lunches & creative socials50% team discount on Mustard productsIf you like the sound of the role, wed love to hear from you.
