We oversee the compliance of more than 17,000 Australian businesses with their obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act).Our monitoring and triaging activities help shape early intervention activities, which we undertake collaboratively with our partners. Combined with our analysis of complex and varied datasets, we identify trends and patterns to provide insights into both current and emerging risks.We are seeking applications from a diverse range of experienced individuals to fill several positions across the Regulatory Operations Branch.The Regulatory Operations section plays a critical role at AUSTRAC by monitoring and supervising our regulated entity population. We ensure that these businesses have appropriate systems and controls in place to help prevent their exploitation for serious financial crime.The businesses we regulate include domestic and foreign banks, casinos, bookmakers, pubs and clubs, remittance service providers, digital currency exchange providers, financial service providers and bullion dealers.What are we looking forWhile we are looking for these capabilities, we consider transferrable skills and encourage applicants who embody AUSTRAC''s culture and values to apply.Identify, Analyse and Assess Compliance Issues - Interprets legislation and regulations against AUSTRACs reporting entity population to identify and evaluate potential serious non-compliance.Investigate and Gather Evidence - Conduct and evaluate investigations into potential non-compliance, in line with planned objectives and ensuring systematic collection of evidence.Industry and Knowledge - Possesses relevant qualifications and/or experience in the AML/CTF regulatory environment. Has an in-depth understanding of and compliance with relevant legislation and policy frameworks.AML/CTF Legislation Knowledge - Well-developed understanding of legislation, policy and procedures and/or regulatory frameworks.Key DutiesUnder limited direction, all Specialists are responsible for:Developing initiatives that encourage positive behaviour and support regulated entities to meet their obligations under the AML/CTF Act.Contributing to the development of solutions to AUSTRACs regulatory challenges, including strengthening regulatory capability.Developing and maintaining an understanding of the AML/CTF Act, associated rules, and AUSTRACs processes, guidelines, and regulations.Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including AUSTRAC management, regulated entities, partner agencies, and other government bodies.Supervising Regulatory Operations staff, including responsibility for performance and development, where relevant.Assisting Branch leadership in improving systems and procedures that enhance the efficiency and transparency of operational activities.Providing expert advice and interpretation within a technical or professional area, including the preparation of relevant strategic advice, where appropriate.Contributing to executive briefings, staff communications, speeches, and correspondence.To be eligible for this role you:Must be an Australian citizen at the time you apply.Will need to undertake AUSTRACs pre-engagement checks.Will need to obtain and maintain an ongoing Baseline Security ClearanceAffirmative MeasuresThis vacancy is also being advertised under Affirmative Measures, to apply under Affirmative Measures you must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
