We offer flexible working hours such as part-time, job-shares and compressed work weeks.About the roleDue to continued growth, we are hiring an experienced rail professional to join our team in New South Wales (NSW) as an Associate Director for Systems Engineering & Systems Integration.You will enable the delivery of new and existing client assignments throughout the state, consulting on systems engineering and systems integration activity generally related to the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems that control railway traffic, ensuring safe and efficient train operations for our clients.Key Responsibilities- Applying systems engineering and assurance practices to complex, safety-critical, socio-technical systems in the rail domain.- Developing and delivering services using advanced systems engineering and assurance practices.- Managing engagements and working within engineering teams to deliver projects to clients.- Using systems engineering toolsets (e.g., DOORS / DOORS Next Generation) to support projects, including requirements management, architecture management and design management.- Developing and reviewing requirements to ensure high system definition quality in accordance with systems engineering principles.- Completing technical deliverables as delegated by the Project Lead, ensuring quality and compliance with governance requirements.- Troubleshooting systems issues as required.- Ensuring compliance with system engineering standards.- Maintaining a collaborative approach with clients and key stakeholders.- Cultivating strong relationships with multi-disciplinary project teams, clients and suppliers.- Supporting business development activity by assisting in tender and sales activities, identifying new opportunities, and fostering good relationships with clients.About youWe expect you to have the following types of skills and experience:- Extensive experience in systems engineering within complex rail infrastructure projects.- Proficiency in systems engineering tools such as DOORS Next Generation.- Experience interpreting and applying relevant standards in engineering delivery projects (e.g., AREMA, CENELEC, ISO/IEC and IEEE).- Affiliation with a recognised professional body (e.g., Engineers Australia).- A background in railway programmes or complex multi-disciplinary engineering programmes.- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.- Attention to detail and ability to capture stakeholder requirements.- Ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines under pressure.Although not essential, it would be an advantage if you had:- Knowledge of contemporary digital rail systems (e.g., ETCS and CBTC).- Demonstrable leadership and interpersonal skills.- Previous experience working as a management consultant in the rail industry.- Recognition as a subject matter expert in the field (e.g., CEng, CPEng, RPEQ).- Knowledge of systems and safety assurance.- An understanding of broader systems engineering disciplines (e.g., Human Factors, RAM).- Experience in building and administering systems architectures, including interface management.- Prior experience with model-based systems engineering and associated tools.Work patternWe expect you to work in our office for 2-3 days a week.
