The function of the Committee is to review firearm licensing decisions of the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police in cases where a review right is provided by the Act.About the RoleThe Committee consists of a Chairperson and 14 members appointed for up to three years. There are five legal members, five Ministerial members, and five Industry Members from shooting organizations. Currently, there is one Ministerial Member vacancy. Hearings involve one Legal, one Ministerial, and one Industry Member, with the Legal Member presiding and preparing the decision.Members are remunerated based on attendance at quarterly meetings and hearing days.
