This will involve initial grant scope and design, supporting contracting, reviewing applications, convening, connecting and mentoring successful grantees to support long-term research field building.This includes;Establishment and ImplementationIn collaboration with the Global Director, Men''s Health Research, establish and subsequently lead the discovery research program in line with board-approved timelines, expected outcomes and KPIs across 6 international markets.Initiate and oversee grant peer review and selection processes for external researchers to be funded by the Institute, with the support of our grant management team, for external PhD Candidates and Postdoctoral Fellows, and Senior Leadership (Professorial) Fellows (part-time).Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements across international jurisdictions.Stakeholder & Partnership DevelopmentLead strategic international convening events (i.e., international conference and workshops) for the Institutes funded researchers contributing to knowledge translation and networking.Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders (i.e., academic institutions) and broader networks (i.e., healthcare organizations and funding partners).Identify and develop strategic partnerships to enhance research capacity and impact.Establish effective ways of working with our key stakeholders within and across markets.Program Evaluation & Impact AssessmentImplement metrics/systems to track the effectiveness and impact of funded research and researchers over the long term.Monitor annual performance of grant recipients (i.e., PhD Fellows, Postdoctoral Fellows) relative to expected progress and KPIs, including initiating and assessing outcomes of corrective action (if needed).Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting (e.g., to Movember Board, Annual Impact Report).Team Management & DevelopmentDevelop and direct the mentoring program of scientific staff within the Institute.Build team capacity through ongoing professional development opportunities.Manage internal Institute grants offered to PhD Fellows and Postdoctoral Fellows funded by the Institute.Manage support for academic publications emanating from Institute researchers (i.e., provision of open access funding from the Institute).Thought Leadership and Strategic ThinkingActively contribute to scientific leadership of the adjacent community-based program (where a significant research and evidence building component exists).Actively participate as a senior leader within the Institute, including involvement in thought leadership both internally, and externally, through coordination of, and contribution to academic opinion pieces with Institute international colleagues.Act as a spokesperson and advocate for the Institute, including raising the profile of the Institutes impact programs and research.Contribute to strategic thinking, supporting the Institutes research capacity building agenda.For This Role, You''ll NeedPhD in a discipline relevant to mens health (including mental health)Minimum of 6-8 years experience in scientific research in men''s health or a related disciplineEstablished research expertise evidenced by significant experience in a leadership role in developing and managing programsStrong stakeholder management skillsProven ability to mentor & develop junior researchers and staff including graduate research supervision of Master''s students and PhD candidatesTrack record in academic publication and academic reputation (i.e., journal articles, citations, h-index)Prior success with external funding (i.e., successful research grants) and eagerness to support Institute researchers with their own grant applicationsStrong knowledge of research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative), and data analysisDemonstrated experience in managing key challenges associated with research projects, including governance, ethical approvals, contract management and performance measurementKnowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and ethical guidelines for researchBudget management experience for large research programs or departmentDesirableUnderstanding of current men''s health issues, research gaps, and emerging trends and the social determinants of health as they relate to men''s health outcomesEstablished profile in mens heath research and demonstrated expertise in at least one specialized area of men''s health (e.g., prostate cancer, cardiovascular health, mental health, reproductive health)Experience working with underserved or marginalized populationsRegistered / licenced health practitionerPrior experience in a research-based organisationLeadership of international research projectsPrior participation in research grant review as a panel memberGood CauseWorking for Movember, youll help raise millions for mens health (not for a CEOs bonus).
