Job Description

Responsible for decorating and creating designs on cakes and bakery products in accordance with Daves Supermarkets standards of quality.Providing quality customer service is an essential component of every position within Dave''s Supermarket stores. Each position serves its own group of customers, which may include consumers, co-workers, vendors, and business associates. As much care should be given to handling our internal customers as the ultimate consumer.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / REQUIREMENTS:Adhere to all federal, state, local regulations (including health and safety) as they apply to the bakery operation.Operate mixer, knives, bread equipment (additional equipment as required).Spread glaze, icing, or other toppings to baked goods, using spatulas or brushes.Decorate bakery products with designs, using icing bags, air guns, and photo cake machines.Decorate and finish bakery products in accordance with merchandising programs.Decorate wedding cakes per customer specifications.Trim uneven surfaces of cakes or cut and shape cakes to required size using a knife.Tint icing with food coloring.Wrap, package, and price all products accurately and legibly.Receive and store product and supply orders as needed.Maintain the quality and freshness of all in-store bakery products on display, meeting Daves standards of quality and freshness.Assist in maintaining proper department and sales floor conditions.Assist the Bakery Manager in executing all corporate bakery merchandising programs.Maintain a regular cleaning and sanitation schedule.Perform other duties as assigned by management.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Remain in a non-stationary position for 90% of the time.Occasionally move inside the store and frequently bend to stock finished goods.Constantly decorate baked goods using mechanical and hand-powered utensils.Continuously reach and grasp to prepare icing and toppings and apply them to bakery products.Detect the coloring of icing and designs throughout decorating.Exchange accurate information when servicing customers.Occasionally distinguish sweet and bitter flavors when creating desserts.Frequently lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds.WORK ENVIRONMENT:May be exposed to heat from ovens.Exposed to temperatures as low as 0 degrees when working in coolers and freezers for extended periods.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
