AHA has 35 members spread across four categories: Australian Government, State and Territory Governments, Livestock Industry Organisations, and Associate Members. The key factor behind the success of AHAs programs is the ability of members to work together to achieve a common outcome.Position Overview:Reporting to the General Manager Member Engagement & Technical Services, the Head of Technical Services is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational management of a range of emergency preparedness and disease control programs and projects for the livestock industry. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective delivery of AHAs national programs and projects, demonstrating operational excellence, and the integration of innovative technologies to deliver emergency preparedness and biosecurity outcomes for AHA Members and key stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage animal livestock programs and projects.Develop and implement strategies for animal health preparedness and response.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and objectives.Provide technical expertise and guidance on animal health issues.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.Develop and implement business and operational plans to inform the delivery of AHAs member-funded programs and projects.Build and maintain strong relationships with members, government agencies, veterinary services, research institutions, and other stakeholders.Qualifications:Tertiary qualifications in Veterinary Science, Animal Science, or a related disciplineExtensive management experience in animal health or disease control, with a proven track record of strategic leadership and operational managementStrong understanding of animal health regulations, guidelines, and Australia''s animal health and biosecurity systemsProficiency in data analysis, project management, and technical skills in animal health, traceability, and biosecurityProven experience in supporting multi-disciplinary projectsExcellent time management and organisational skillsSuperior written and oral communication skills, including negotiating, presenting, and active listeningStrong relationship-building skills with stakeholdersResilience and adaptability to changeWhy Join Us?Make a meaningful impact on animal health and welfare.Work with a dedicated and passionate team.Opportunities for professional growth and development.Competitive salary and benefits package.How to Apply: If you are ready to take on this rewarding challenge, please submit your resume and cover letter to detailing your experience and suitability for the role.Applications close on 18 June 2025.Join us in making a difference in animal health and biosecurity.
