Reporting to the Lead Data Engineer, this end-to-end Data Engineering role will be focussed on designing, building and maintaining data pipelines.This role is centred on designing and implementing real-time data ingestion systems and requires expertise in C++, Rust, Golang and ideally Python.Its a rare opportunity to join a growing team at the cutting edge of tech, ideal for someone whos excited by the intersection of data engineering and trading and wants to help shape the future of this startup from the ground up.This position has a hybrid/flexible working model with at least 3 days in the Sydney CBD office. You must be based in Sydney, Australia and have rights to work full-time in Australia.What youll do:Design, build and maintain data ingestion systems for real-time, latency-sensitive, high-frequency data.Develop backend data pipelines that support real-time data processing.Build tools to efficiently collect, transform, and store complex data from multiple sources.Introduce safeguards and monitoring tools to catch anomalies and maintain data accuracy and suggest practical approaches for applying Rust.Translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions in collaboration with the quantitative research team.What were looking for:Our client is seeking an experienced end-to-end Data Engineer. As this is a new, growing startup, some weekend work is expected during the early phases.You must have experience with Rust (minimum 1 year), C++ and Golang.Ideally you should also have expertise in Python.Strong understanding of real-time data pipelines, latency-sensitive architectures, and data ingestion workflows.Comfortable with SQL databases, Git, CI/CD, and ideally Docker/Kubernetes.Exposure to Kafka or MQTT.Previous work in quant, trading and/or fintech environments is highly regarded.Whats in it for you?This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to contribute and shape a fast paced start-up from the ground up.
