Focused on providing residential and community care for older people and support to children, families, and people with disability, financially disadvantaged people and people seeking asylum.Our Values areWellbeing,Ethics,Co-creating,Accountability,Respect andEffectiveness.About the RoleBaptcare is seeking a compassionate and experienced Spiritual Care Coordinator to provide vital spiritual and emotional support to our residents, families, and staff at the Wattle Grove Residential Aged Care Community.This position is part of Baptcares professional Spiritual Care Team, comprising over 30 dedicated Spiritual Care Coordinators serving across all areas of aged care.Key Responsibilities:Spiritual Assessments & Ongoing Support: Conduct initial and ongoing spiritual assessments that explore a persons life journey, needs, and resources, supporting their spiritual wellbeing.Trauma-Informed, Person-Centred Care: Provide care in accordance with the Aged Care Act (1997), Quality Standards, and Trauma Informed Care principles.Individual & Family Support: Offer compassionate spiritual and emotional care, including listening to personal narratives, facilitating healing conversations, and providing ethical, religious, or bereavement support.Pastoral Education & Guidance: Educate individuals, families, and staff on spiritual, ethical, and existential matters through informal and formal settings.Staff Collaboration & Integration: Work with Site Managers to build staff awareness and integrate spiritual care as a core part of service culture.Volunteer Supervision: Oversee and support spiritual care volunteers as needed, including outside standard hours.Confidentiality & Respect: Maintain the highest standards of privacy and respect for all residents, families, and staff.Spiritual Rituals & Worship: Facilitate both private and public expressions of spiritual practice, including prayer, sacraments, memorials, and seasonal services.Team Collaboration: Partner with Residential Aged Care (RAC) and In-Home Care (IHC) teams to ensure a holistic, respectful approach to care.Referral & Resource Coordination: Access and distribute resources, and liaise with external providers to support individuals wellbeing.Documentation & Reporting: Complete spiritual care plans, reviews, documentation, and reporting to professional standards and within required timeframes.Professional Development & Supervision: Engage in ongoing personal and professional development and participate in supervision and reflective practice with the Spiritual Care Manager.This is a hands-on, relational role requiring sensitivity, adaptability, and the ability to engage meaningfully with people from diverse spiritual and cultural backgrounds.Key Selection CriteriaAn active personal faith and involvement in a faith community/church or support network.Mature spiritual and pastoral formation and capacity to reflect theologically on experience.Highly developed listening and interpersonal skills, demonstrating an understanding of person-centred care.Understanding of and demonstrated ability to work sensitively with individuals and faith/community groups from diverse religious, spiritual and cultural traditions.Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to explain the practice and possibilities of spiritual care to people from varied backgrounds.Experience and/or special interest in working in dementia and palliative care contexts with older people.Minimum 2 years experience in providing pastoral/spiritual care to people outside a faith community.Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work independently, as well as part of an interdisciplinary team.Experience and skills in administrative duties, including data collection and reporting on outcomes.Competence in Microsoft Office and related softwareAlignment and commitment to Baptcares Mission, Vision, and Values.About YouWere looking for a skilled and grounded Spiritual Care Professional who has:Qualifications in theology or spiritual care e.g. Bachelor or Diploma of Theology/Ministry/ChaplaincyMinimum 1 unit of CPE/ STFE/ CCTC Intern Program or commitment to complete at own cost within first 12 months of employment.Appropriate membership of Spiritual Care Australia or other relevant professional associationExperience in providing pastoral and spiritual care within aged care, health, or similar settings.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.The ability to work independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.Experience in volunteer supervision and service development (desirable).Whats in it for you?Baptcare is focused on living our values, not just talking about them.
