Job Description

The Office of Parliamentary Counsel (OPC) is a specialist statutory agency that plays a central role in supporting Australias democracy. Established under the Parliamentary Counsel Act 1970, OPC is responsible for drafting legislation for the Australian Government and maintaining the Federal Register of Legislation. We are seeking an experienced and motivated senior executive to lead our Corporate Services Group and contribute to the strategic direction of the agency.Reporting directly to the First Parliamentary Counsel, the Chief Operating Officer is a key member of OPCs Senior Management Team. You will lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team delivering a broad range of functions including information technology, human resources, finance, information and records management, contract and risk management, protective security and integrity, governance, property and facilities, and administrative support. You will provide high-level strategic, operational and technical advice and drive the delivery of key corporate initiatives aligned with broader APS reforms.To be successful in this role, you will bring a depth of senior executive experience in leading corporate services within a government environment. You will be a strategic thinker with sound judgement and the ability to navigate complexity with confidence.Your leadership style will be people-centred, inclusive, and performance-focused, enabling you to build trust and credibility across all levels of the agency. You will have a proven track record of delivering results within budget, aligning corporate functions to broader strategic objectives, and leading through influence.
