About This RoleManage high level, day-to-day operational needs of a prison.Ongoing, Full-Time opportunity.Cog Grade 4: $107,737 - $131,457 plus superannuation.The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Operations Manager to provide a critical role at HM Barwon Prison.About The Business UnitHM Prison Barwon is a maximum-security prison located 6km north-west of Lara, 20km from the centre of Geelong and about 70km from Melbourne and is part of the Barwon South-West Regional structure. It is Victoria''s major maximum-security prison for sentenced male prisoners. The prison officially opened in January 1990 and currently houses up to 416 men in custody, including high security, long term management, protection (including specialist protection), general mainstream (maximum security) and medium security prisoners.About The RoleThe Operations Manager will be responsible for managing a team of custodial and non-custodial officers delivering a range of correctional services for which the incumbent will require superior leadership skills. A good understanding of contemporary prisoner management and offender services practices are needed to ensure that prisoners are managed, and programs are provided consistent with Corrections Victoria''s policies, procedures, and priorities.This role will also be responsible for overseeing the fruition of the prison''s Cultural Diversity Action Plan''. The department''s Cultural Diversity Plan Framework 2019-22 aims to ensure that the department''s key services are accessible to individuals and communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The plan builds on work undertaken through the previous cultural diversity plans.Some Of Your Duties Will IncludeProvide leadership to staff, promoting the prison''s vision and managing staff in ways that reflect that vision.Develop, manage, and ensure the quality of the delivery of custodial processes including offender management, movement control, operation of security equipment, reception and discharge, escorts, visitors and visits, urinalysis, searching, security procedures, disciplinary issues and hearings and Review and Assessment.Ensure delivery of custodial services and integrate this delivery with education, industry, clinical services and good lives reintegration service.To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:Demonstrated commitment to working with staff, prisoners and other service providers in the delivery of an integrated, whole of prison program approach to reducing re-offending.Demonstrated experience and skill in areas relevant to correctional delivery, offender management and/or offender treatment.Qualifications/requirementsThe successful applicant will be required to complete Prison Officer Pre-Service Training on commencement if not previously completed.A Pre-Employment Health Assessment will be required for external candidates and non-custodial staff.How To ApplyPlease click the Apply button on this advertisement.
