Temporary Full Time until mid-January 2026Location: Morwell, Latrobe CityBand 6 Salary: $94,412 - $102,394 p.a. plus 11.5% superannuationDepartment: Regional City PlanningGo Further, Right Here at Latrobe City CouncilThe RoleWere looking for a passionate and dedicated Planning Compliance Officer to join our Regional City Planning Department on a temporary full-time basis until mid-January 2026.In this role, you''ll investigate alleged breaches of the Latrobe Planning Scheme, Planning Permits and Section 173 Agreements and take decisive action to ensure compliance using the Infringements Acts and other notices in line with the Planning and Environment Act.You will raise awareness about planning controls among the community and developers, leading to higher compliance levels throughout the municipality and delivering great outcomes for the team.About You:You will have a proven track record in enforcement and compliance activities. You will also have a solid understanding of the Planning and Environment Act, Planning Appeals Act, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act, Subdivision Act, and the Victorian Planning Scheme.Your knowledge of relevant legislation and understanding of the concepts and major issues emerging within local government will enable you to make a valuable contribution to the team.You will have the ability to liaise, coordinate and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders and have the ability to search for solutions to new situations using your technical expertise.You will also have proven ability in time management, meeting deadlines and prioritising work, demonstrated customer service skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.You will need:Experience in an enforcement-related position or within a Local Government Authority.Ability to interpret relevant Planning Acts, legislation and policies and the ability to apply these to a range of planning situations and communicate these in plain language.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and the ability to learn specialised systems.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people.Attention to detail and accuracy.Adaptability, initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement.Current Victorian Drivers Licence.Desirable:Planning or Environmental Management qualifications.Successful applicants will be required to apply for and satisfactorily obtain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.To applyPlease apply via the Latrobe City Council website www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/careers.
