Learn more aboutIkon.About The RoleThe Financial Accountant / Senior Financial Accountant is responsible to for the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial reports and supporting schedules. These include, but are not limited to, Profit or Loss Statement (P&L), Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statement, and schedules relation to revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses (Opex), capital expenditure (Capex), accruals, prepayments and intercompany transactions.In addition to core financial reporting responsibilities, this role will manage the weekly sessional staff pay runs, contribute to the preparation of annual and half-year audits, and supervise members of the finance team in their day-to-day activities. The role also oversees the end-to-end accounting and bookkeeping functions for the Group.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll and TaxationProcess weekly pay runs for casual and sessional employeesPrepare GST and PAYG tax returns and arrange superannuation paymentsAssist with income tax calculations for the consolidated entityAccounting and PaymentsMaintain fixed asset register, including AASB 16 lease schedulesManage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and settlementsPrepare and review supplier payments, including commissions, refunds, and rentReporting and AnalysisLead month-end and year-end closing processesPrepare consolidated management and statutory reportsPerform budget variance analysis and support CFO reportingPrepare and provide audit schedules, reconciliation, and evidence to support financial disclosuresSystems and EfficiencyMaintain financial systems and assist with process automation (e.g., Power Query, Power BI) to enhance reporting and operational efficiencyContinuously improve processes for accuracy and efficiencyTeam SupportOversee daily finance tasks (bank reconciliation, invoicing, payments)Train and guide team members as neededEducation, Experience & SkillsTertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)CPA qualified (or equivalent) or currently studying for CPAMinimum 5+ years experience in financial or senior accounting rolesStrong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and IFRSKnowledge of tax, regulatory, and compliance obligations (e.g., GST, PAYG, Superannuation)Payroll processing experience, including awards interpretation and tax complianceAdvanced Excel proficiency (formulas, pivot tables, data modelling)Practical experience with Power BI and Power Query for financial reportingStrong IT skills, including Microsoft OfficeExcellent written and verbal communication skills for financial presentationsStrong interpersonal skills, able to work independently and in teamsWhy Join us?A supportive team - When you work with us, youre not just a team memberyour part of a supportive community that lifts each other up, values every contribution, and thrives on mutual respect.Career progression- Here, youll find an environment where your ideas matter, your growth is prioritized, and youre empowered to do your best workbecause when we succeed, we do it togetherA positive and fun work environment- Work should be more than just a jobit should be an experience you enjoy!Daily breakfast supplied - We believe that a positive and fun work environment starts with the little things, and whats better than breakfast?Training and Development opportunities - Professional development allowance available to invest in your future & help you stay at the forefront of your fieldDiversity & InclusionWe celebrate diversity and are committed to reflecting Australian society to better serve our students.
