We handle a variety of criminal cases across Gippsland and South East Melbourne, giving you meaningful court practice from day one.The OpportunityJoshua Cameron Law is seeking a Criminal Lawyer (admitted solicitor) to join our Morwell office. This role is court-focused, primarily involving criminal defence work in Magistrates and County Courts. We prefer a candidate with around 2 years post-admission experience in criminal law, but motivated new graduates and first-year solicitors are welcome to apply.Responsibilities include:Conducting client interviews, obtaining instructions, and providing clear legal advice.Preparing and managing case files: drafting briefs, affidavits, and court documents.Attending daily court appearances (Magistrates and County Courts) and instructing counsel.Liaising with stakeholders (e.g., Victoria Legal Aid, expert witnesses, support agencies) to support client cases.Working closely with the Principal lawyer on complex matters and strategy.Travelling to regional courts across Gippsland and South East Melbourne as part of your caseload.Skills & ExperienceEligible to hold a practising certificate in Victoria.Ideally ~2 years experience in criminal law (advocacy experience preferred); strong graduates will be considered.Good understanding of Victorian criminal procedure and evidence law.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to handle a diverse caseload, manage time effectively, and work both independently and as part of a small team.A valid drivers licence and right to work in Australia.We OfferMentorship & Development: Work directly under our LIV-accredited Principal to develop your advocacy skills and legal expertise.Supportive Team: A friendly, professional environment where every team members contribution is valued.Flexibility: A full-time position is preferred; part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
