Please note that there are two positions on offer, each with a different end date.About Fisheries NTFisheries NT delivers evidence-based management of fish stocks, the effective management of ecological risks and economic development of fishing, aquaculture and seafood businesses. As stewards of a public resource, the team aims to protect the NTs aquatic resources while maximising social and economic benefits to the community. This is achieved through management actions that consider, and provide opportunities and benefits for the traditional, commercial, recreational and fishing tourism sectors.The RoleAs a Fisheries Management Officer, you will lead and supervise the development of policy and provide advice to Government, key stakeholders, and the public on the sustainable management of aquatic resources in the Northern Territory. You will also coordinate the financial and administrative aspects of projects, ensuring effective delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.Key DutiesLead strategic planning to facilitate effective policy development and delivery of operational frameworks.Develop and implement policy to ensure sustainable management and development of NT''s fish and aquatic resources.Provide expert advice to the Director of Fisheries, the Minister responsible for Fisheries and other government organisation on the sustainable management of fish and aquatic resources.Facilitate meetings and negotiate outcomes with key stakeholders, government organisation and indigenous groups.Ensure projects and operations are targeted towards achieving departmental, government, and as appropriate, key client group''s objectives.Supervise staff and support their development to improve the capacity and capability of the work team.About youTo be successful in the role, you will need to bring strong project management skills, including planning, coordination, and delivering outcomes on time. Youll have the ability to analyse data and draw evidence-based conclusions, engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and produce clear, well-structured written communications.
