Nissen Street Veterinary Surgery is a 5 Veterinarian clinic conveniently located close to Hervey Bays medical precinct. Purpose-built in 2020 with modern, new equipment and fixtures, on a spacious block with large lawns and ample parking. Nissen Street Veterinary Surgery has become popular and is quickly building a great reputation under Dr. Candice Loft. About the Role: We are currently seeking experienced Veterinary Nurses to join our dedicated team of Vets and Nurses. This role offers great exposure for those looking for a diverse position involving surgery, consultations, and general veterinary nursing. We pride ourselves on supporting and developing our nurses to be the best they can be by providing access to a full spectrum of nursing duties and ongoing professional development. Our ethos is to help nurses become well-rounded, competent, and confident, thereby better supporting our veterinarians. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supporting veterinarians and patients in all aspects of veterinary nursing, including surgical preparation, anesthetic monitoring, blood draws, IV catheter placement, in-house blood testing, and hospital monitoring. Admitting patients for surgical or medical procedures (including emergencies), assisting with clinical examinations, blood collection, catheter and IV fluid placement, laboratory testing, and surgical preparation. Assisting vets with anesthesia and oxygen during surgeries. Supporting vets in surgical procedures, including anesthesia and monitoring. Assisting in medical cases and during consultations. Supporting vets with radiographs & ultrasounds. Monitoring patient observations, sterilizing instruments, and preparing theatres. Feeding, medicating, and providing general care for various animals including dogs, cats, pocket pets, birds, exotics, and wildlife. Performing general reception duties and attending to clients. Maintaining cleanliness and organization around the hospital. Minimum requirements: Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (completed or in progress) or equivalent. At least 2 years of full-time veterinary nursing experience. Enjoy working in a team environment that values mutual respect. A willingness to learn and improve skills.
