Add expected salary to your profile for insightsHunter Express is an Australian-owned transport company specialising in last-mile delivery of large and bulky freight to residential (B2C) addresses. We are the trusted delivery partner for many of Australias most recognised retail brands across industries such as home furniture and furnishings, gym equipment and outdoor living. Our service offering continues to evolve alongside our customers expectations, and as consumer habits change and technologies advance we remain focused on refining our delivery model to offer an even more dependable service. And this is where the Perth Depot Manager comes in.Our Perth depot is a state-of-art facility of only 12 months old in Forrestdale. It provides the basis to deliver the service that our customers want and deserve and is simply a great place to go to work everyday.Purpose of the RoleThe Depot Manager is multi-faceted role that will be responsible for; Processing the freight that arrives from both the east coast and local pickups Delivering the freight that has been processed Working closely with our regional partner and linehaul operator Ensuring a strong relationship with our tenant that operates from the adjoining building on the site Meeting KPIs to ensure the overall business successTo achieve these responsibilities, it will be critical to ensure that the Perth operation attracts and retains highly talented, motivated and productive people ensure that those people follow processes that results in a smooth operation create plans for volumes peaks throughout the year have a personable approach that connects with both team members and suppliersKey elements of the role and personWe are very much driven by the concept of ensuring that the right freight is delivered every day. That means that a strong focus and culture of using the data provided by our IT system is followed. The Depot Manager will need to run reports, use reports that are provided, review the reports and overall manage to the key reports every step of the way as that is the secret sauce to success. It is extremely evident all around the country that success is as a result of following the processes that have been developed and refined over the years. These processes form the backbone of the business, and provide the certainty that quality service will be delivered all year around. They also provide the Manager with the operational framework that allows the Manager to both enjoy the role and success in it.The Depot Manager will be required to deliver KPIs in the following areas; Priority Deliveries Quality of driver performance Peak Period recruitment Delivery stop costs Item processing throughput Cost per itemAdditional informationThe role is something that we like call a light-blue collar role. Success will result from being able to use the information and reports that are provided from our systems WITH the team. That means that you will be on the depot floor in the morning with the drivers and then later on in the day with the Processing Team. It is the way that you will have a culture where people work with you as opposed to for you and they realise why they are doing what they are doing. To be successful in the role you will likely have a background in working closely with delivery drivers in something like a Fleet Manager role, as well as having worked in the departments that actually get the freight to the drivers.10 years ago, this role was a blue collar role with the Manager driving a forklift quite extensively and moving the freight themselves. 4 years ago, it was moving towards a white collar role with a 50/50 blue/white split, and now it is the light-blue role explained above. Our business has evolved. The role has evolved. We are therefore likely to be looking for a person who has evolved in their career. You will still need a forklift licence as you will jump on a forklift when you see the need. You will need a minimum of an MR licence as you will jump in the truck when you see the need. But the main thing is that you will posses the skill set to have your operation running so that you see the need early but the need is rare in occasion. The line-manager for the role is based in Brisbane and travels to Perth a number of times a year. That means that successful recruit certainly does need to be self-sufficient, ie; driven by themselves as opposed to their manager. Their Deliverables and KPIs will be very clear and that should be the key component of what they aim to achieve each period.Being 4000kms away from the line-manager can be a great working environment. If you are a person who; likes data and information enjoys, and thrives, from the existence of, and therefore follows processes has the skill set to ensure that their team follows processes uses KPIs and results as an internal reason to succeed can make good strong decisions where needed likes autonomy and is self-driven likes working with a smallish management team and can put their own stamp on an operation and peoplethen this role might be for you.Unlock job insightsSalary match Number of applicants Skills matchYour application will include the following questions:Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?
