This is an excellent opportunity to bring your legal counsel expertise to a well-rounded role offering variety and scope across a range of legal, compliance and regulatory activities.Reporting to the Chief General Counsel, you will hold responsibilities across a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial activities, enabling Gallagher Bassetts business units to achieve their strategic objectives within appropriate risk parameters, whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legal requirements.You will add value to our business by providing a responsive service, providing commercially astute advice, and contributing to the development of the strategic direction of the business, as well as acting as a business enabler with the ability to make commercially savvy and legally sound decision, managing all aspects of enterprise compliance for the organisation and its employees.How you''ll make an impactProvide accurate and timely counsel in all matters of a legal nature impacting the reputation, obligations and operations of the Australian business;Draft, review and negotiate various commercial contracts and agreements;Oversee or directly manage actual, threatened or potential litigation, including those of a commercial, industrial relations and/or privacy nature;Advise and make recommendations to Executive and SLT in relation to legal and compliance matters across the organisation;Assist and support the business in the client-tendering processes through the provision of legal and compliance advice;Drive the development, implementation and maintenance of enterprise compliance frameworks, policies, charters, and procedures, including Privacy, Modern Slavery, AFSL, Whistleblower and CPS230;Create relationships of trust with external parties, including regulators, public authorities, external legal counsel and other service providers, clients and other relevant stakeholders;Manage AFCA complaints and oversee complex complaints escalated from business units;Assist with the development of templates, policies, guidance and training;Lead the Ethics Program, including promoting ethics awareness across the organisation and supporting our regional Ethics Representatives, and chairing the quarterly Ethics Committee meetings;Collaborate with the Chairman of the Board to coordinate quarterly Compliance and Audit Committee meetings, acting as a key advisor to the Committee for compliance and ethics matters.About you7-10 years post-admission practical experience at a reputable corporate law firm or equivalent in-house experience.
