This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.You will report to the Quality, Risk and Education Services Manager and collaborate closely with department managers, clinical staff, and external stakeholders to ensure best practices in infection control are upheld.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the implementation and evaluation of the Infection Prevention and Control ProgramProvide regular updates and education to clinical staff and Medical OfficersChair and coordinate the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship CommitteesConduct data collection, surveillance, and mandatory reporting to health authoritiesRespond to infectious outbreaks and provide expert guidanceAudit compliance and recommend improvements for adherence to infection control standardsMaintain and manage staff vaccination records and administer vaccinationsDeliver infection control training and participate in staff orientationSupport hospital accreditation, continuous quality improvement initiatives and achievement of ACHS accreditationServe as a key resource and subject matter expert in infection prevention and control, fostering strong partnerships with Department Managers and the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) CoordinatorCollaborate with Department Managers on infection prevention and control matters, including KPI monitoring, policy development, auditing processes, and staff training and developmentEngage, if possible, with external regional Infection Prevention and Control Committees (e.g., NSW Health, HSP National IFC Working Party) to contribute to broader public health initiatives and stay informed on best practicesWhat Were Looking ForCurrent AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)Minimum 4 years of clinical nursing experienceRelevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in infection controlStrong leadership and communication skillsAbility to build effective relationships across departmentsProficiency in report writing, data analysis, and auditingDemonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, set clear objectives, and develop actionable plans to meet organisational performance goalsKnowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) StandardsImmunisation Certificate (or working towards)Post Graduate Infection Prevention and Control qualification (or working towards)RenumerationThe remuneration for this position will be aligned with either the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) classification, based on the candidates qualifications and level of expertise.Ready to Make a Difference?If youre a proactive leader with a passion for infection prevention and a commitment to excellence in healthcare, wed love to hear from you.Apply now to join a hospital that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Joining us opens the door to endless opportunities.
