We are a subsidiary of Hanwha Corporation, the largest and most influential defence corporation in South Korea.Your new role:The Senior System Safety Engineer responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of complex systems, products, or processes. a Senior System Safety Engineer is to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and implement measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and other adverse events.Your primary areas of responsibilities:Define and develop comprehensive safety requirements, ensuring they are seamlessly integrated into the design and development processes.Identify potential hazards and analyze risks associated. Conduct in-depth risk assessments using methods such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).Create and execute test plans to verify and validate the effectiveness of safety measures and compliance with safety requirements.Conduct thorough safety analyses, such as Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), to understand the root causes of potential failures and their impact on the overall system. Prepare and maintain detailed safety documentation, including safety reports, assessments, and safety case arguments.Investigate accidents, incidents, or near-miss events to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.Assist in the development, preparation and on-time delivery of all Engineering DIDs and supporting activities.Support risk analysis to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored and mitigated.Actively participate in mandated system reviews as well as System Safety Working Groups.Work with early design projects to identify hazards in concept design so that they can be design out of the systems.Develop and/or update extant safety artefacts such as System Safety Program Plans, Hazard Analysis Reports, Safety Case Reports and Hazard Log to ensure risks are reduced So Far As Is Reasonably Practicable (SFAIRP)Provide technical advice on safety engineering activities and methodologies performed within HDA Systems to engineering staff as required.Report on the implementation of mitigation strategiesMaintain the Project Hazard Log and supporting documentationSupport the investigations to close out Product Safety Reports in a timely mannerGenerate safety lessons learned communications for hazards, incidents and near misses to be shared across the project and businessOther duties as required by the supervisor.About youAs an ideal candidate you will have:Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.Meets Engineers Australia criteria for Chartered Professional Engineer is desirable.Professional experience in Safety System activities, desirable in the defence industry delivering complex large-scale programs.Strong understanding of safety engineering principles, safety analysis techniques, and safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, MIL-STD-882, IEC 61508).Knowledge with military standards and regulations related to vehicle development is desirableProven ability to influence technical and project engineers. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Effective communication and collaboration abilities.Proven ability to effectively manage relationships and positively resolve disputes with internal/external stakeholders.Meticulous approach to work, with the ability to identify potential risks and issues proactively. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work under tight deadlines without compromising quality.Ability to demonstrate a high engineering and technical focus with a strong mechanical mindset.Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.Demonstrates adaptability and can be flexible to meet the needs of the organisation.Proficient in DOORS and DOORS toolsetTo be successful in this role, you will need to be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security clearance (must be Australian Citizen).
