Location: Chinchilla, Queensland, Australia Function: Health, Safety & Environmental Employment type: Contract Date published: May 20, 2025 About the Role As the S&E Advisor for Projects, you will integrate HSSE delivery across a range of Upstream Projects and collaborate with colleagues in Upstream Operations. You will support the Projects & Wells S&E Lead by providing strong on-site safety and environmental oversight, embedding compliance into front-line activities. Your role includes risk management, contractor S&E oversight, and promoting consistency through the Assist and Assure approach, working both independently and with stakeholders. Position Details Position: Project Safety and Environment (S&E) Advisor Contract Duration: 6 months Schedule: DIDO - 19 days on, 9 days off (11-hour days) Travel: From BNE/Sunshine Coast to Chinchilla via company-provided transport Requirements Construction safety experience Ability to drive company vehicle onsite (standard driver''s license required) Assist and assure experience (preferred but optional) Bachelors, Graduate Diploma, or Masters in safety, environmental science, engineering, or related field (desirable) Experience working on-site with project construction teams, positively influencing S&E culture Operational knowledge of industry safety and environmental risks Frontline implementation experience in safety and environment Knowledge of Queensland safety and environmental legislation and standards Familiarity with S&E legislation, tools, and techniques Experience working with external stakeholders and strong relationship skills Interpersonal and presentation skills, proactive stakeholder engagement Courage to share insights and uncomfortable truths, supporting decisions Experience in risk assessments and training delivery Contractor S&E management, assurance, incident investigation, and learning experience Key Responsibilities Provide S&E leadership to foster a positive, disciplined culture with clear accountability Build strong partnerships with client departments and contractors to support compliance and performance Offer technical advice and implement safety and environmental management systems, liaising with regulators and third parties Deliver HSSE support through coaching, challenging, and intervening to manage risks and drive improvement Collaborate with staff and contractors to enhance S&E culture, emphasizing learning, psychological safety, and HOP principles Engage stakeholders to share best practices and address issues with a risk-based approach Conduct on-site assurance to ensure hazards, risks, and controls are well-understood and applied Ensure compliance with local and state standards, including P&G, WHS, and DETSI requirements Only candidates with the right to work in Australia will be considered.
