Youll be engaging directly with affected communities to identify needs, drive grassroots initiatives, and foster meaningful partnerships.Youll coordinate local planning days, support long-term development goals, and build trusted relationships with key stakeholders.If you''re passionate about community-led change and want to make a lasting impact, this is your opportunity to lead where it matters most.Snapshot of Key Responsibilities:Undertake widespread community engagement activities to discuss the recovery process and to identify the needs and aspirations of diverse groups within the affected area.Lead processes that support capacity and skills development of individuals and groups, businesses and service providers within the affected areas.Arrange community training and education programs that facilitate the outcomes of the CRO Program (i.e. Mental Health First Aid, continuity planning, workshops on the recovery journey)Raise awareness of and assist community groups to develop their capacity to submit recovery and/or resilience project proposals under the Flexible Funding Program and other grants that become available in response to natural disastersTo be successful, youll need demonstrated experience in:Demonstrated understanding of the National Disaster Recovery Principles as outlined in the Queensland Recovery Plan and the National Recovery Handbook.Communication skills and cultural awareness that support the ability to work with diverse groups from different sectors of the community.Problem solving skills, including excellent negotiation and conflict resolutionStrong time management and project management skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.Skills in the design and implementation of community-based project workAbility to work under pressure during intense community engagement activities that includes engaging community members who have been exposed to trauma and direct impacts of disaster.Current Class C Drivers licenceRelevant experience in Community Development or the Community Services industry sectorTertiary qualifications (AQF Level 5 or above) in Disaster Recovery & Resilience, Community Development or Community ServicesBenefits of Working with CouncilCommitted to providing quality services to our community, we strongly support an inclusive and values driven culture, recognising your individual skills, knowledge and talent.
