Journeyman Research Laboratory Mechanic (RLM) TechnicianJoin to apply for the Journeyman Research Laboratory Mechanic (RLM) Technician role at Sierra Lobo, Inc.OverviewThe Test Facilities Operation, Maintenance and Engineering (TFOME) contract at the NASA Glenn Research Center provides engineering and technical services in aeronautics, space power, and propulsion test facilities. We are seeking an experienced journeyman level mechanic to support our Vacuum Facilities. The Journeyman Mechanical Technician will perform routine and non-routine mechanical tasks following detailed work instructions, including troubleshooting, modifying, and repairing test hardware and facility devices. Proficiency in using hand and machine tools is required to maintain complex mechanical components and systems related to high-temperature fuel operations. The technician will train with existing facility staff on hardware builds, test setup, and facility operations. Work involves rotating shifts and possible overtime.ResponsibilitiesFunction of PositionPerform mechanical tasks on test hardware and systems, assist in preparing and operating test apparatus and facilities.Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperate facility equipment such as cranes, bucket trucks, forklifts, and rigging gear.Weld using various techniques and materials.Use mechanical tools like drill presses, saws, shears, pipe benders, and lathes.Build complex tubing systems and disassemble, repair, and verify valves and regulators.Operate hydraulic and high-pressure gas systems.Work with environmental chambers, leak detectors, and vacuum systems.Assist in installing and operating research test packages.Fabricate and maintain mechanical control panels and test equipment.Perform maintenance on vacuum pumps, cryo-pumps, and heat exchangers.Inspect and evaluate mechanical equipment, recommending repairs.Fabricate and operate cryogenic systems.QualificationsMinimum 4 years of experience as a Journeyman Mechanic or equivalent vocational training with work experience.Knowledge of research test facilities and equipment.Ability to follow instructions, use judgment, and work independently.Self-motivated team player with good communication skills.Effective time management and prioritization skills.Additional DetailsSeniority Level: Mid-Senior levelEmployment Type: Full-timeJob Function: Management and ManufacturingIndustries: Defense and Space Manufacturing #J-18808-Ljbffr
