Director Research Translation, The Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic TherapeuticsMelbourne, VICThe Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics (the Cumming Global Centre, CGC) is seeking an exceptional and visionary leader for the position of DirectorResearch Translation. The Centre is a global-scale research program dedicated to developing therapeutics rapidly for pathogens with pandemic potential. It is a distinct Centre within the Doherty Institute, a joint venture with Royal Melbourne Hospital, located within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (FMDHS) at The University of Melbourne.The DirectorResearch Translation will oversee the scientific outputs of the Centre, ensuring they are of the highest quality and capable of rapid clinical translation. The role involves identifying, supporting, and enabling the swift translation of new discoveries, fostering collaboration to enhance productivity, reducing duplication, and facilitating researcher access to advanced technologies. The incumbent will support the Centre Director and respond to advice from the International Scientific Advisory Board, actively identifying new global scientific opportunities to enhance the Centre''s outputs. They will oversee daily scientific operations and collaborate closely with the Centre Director, Director of Research and Operations, Head of Commercialisation, and Business Development Director.About The Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic TherapeuticsThe Centre was established in September 2022 within the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, a joint venture between the University of Melbourne and Royal Melbourne Hospital.With a 20-year mission to advance therapeutic development for pandemic pathogens, the Centre aims to bring together leading scientists worldwide to develop innovative platform technologies using a plug and play approach.
