HOD-JS leads extension and specialist programs.The position also entails leadership of the Junior Secondary (Year 7 - 9) Year Level Leaders; enhancing transition from primary and building a strong junior secondary identity and voice.About Nambour State CollegeNambour State College embraces the whole student in a high expectation learning community. With 1200 students on the secondary campus we are looking for a person to showcase the opportunities that NSC has to offer with our partner schools across the community.About The RoleResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:Ability to case manage complex and challenging behaviour using an evidence trauma informed lens.Establishment of a high expectation learning culture through the implementation of systems and processes that ensure all students improve student performance.Lead and innovate a strong and effective transition program through the development of collegial partnerships between the college and local primary schools that result in increased enrolments. Monitoring enrolment patterns.Leadership of the junior secondary cultivators program in line with the College Farm.Coordinate the 7-9 Pinnacle program for high achieving students through the selection, monitoring and implementation of key programs across the college, regular communication with parents and establishment of partnerships across the community.Work closely with primary campus staff, students and parents to support a seamless transition.Communicating achievements by developing social media, website and marketing strategy.Coordination of NAPLAN testing, analysis and implementation of strategies to improve results.Design and implement career pathway programs through JET Planning processes.Development of junior secondary social and emotional skilling program through NSC and coordinate assemblies.Development of a high expectation learning culture across the junior secondary sector.Organisation and management of daily operations for junior secondary.Outstanding interpersonal skills that enable the applicant to develop a quick rapport with feeder schools, community and parentsManage new students and families to the Campus in partnership with the Year Level Team.Instructional leadership experience in implementing Teach Like a Champion, PBL systems and Tier 2 programs.Strong knowledge of programs including Compass, QLearn, Adobe Express Videoleap and Canva to enact the social media strategy.About YouThe school is seeking a skilled, dedicated and passionate Head of Department that will connect with junior school students, build positive relationships with fellow staff, embrace the school culture and value add to this vibrant school.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.How To ApplyPlease attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andA 1-pg written statement about how your achievements and capabilities meet the requirements of the role.Attach a copy of your mandatory qualifications/registration outlined in the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.Salary rate shown is reflective of full-time (1.0 FTE).The Department of Education is a family inclusive workplace.
